Samuel Casteel died at the home of his son-in-law, R. R. R. Fisher, near East Brook on Monday, at aged 93 years. He was in no doubt the oldest person living in the county. He had been a resident here for a great number of years and during that time had made many ties that lasted till death. During the war of 1812 he enlisted as a soldier, but got no nearer the hostilities than Black Rock near Erie, Here he remained during a winter and was discharged in the spring. His funeral took place Wednesday and was attended by many old friends and neighbors; internment at East Brook U. P. cemetery. |
