 | Obituary: Allen Ward 1931 "Allen Ward, 90, one of Lexington's oldest residents, died at 12.25 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Baker, 300 Sherman avenue. Had Mr. Ward lived until Sept. 30, he would have celebrated his 91st birthday. He had been In falling health for three years, and practically bedfast for the past year. Mr. Ward, a retired farmer, was a Union soldier. He was born in Donerail, a son of Rufus Valentine and Lockey Burton Ward, and moved to Lexington five years ago. He was a Republican and a member of the True Followers of Christ denomination. Of his 11 children, six survive him. They are Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Frank Carew, Georgetown; Mrs. Alex Rennie, Hamilton, O.; Mrs. Nannie Corbin, Lexington; Voley Ward, Lexington, and Henry Ward, Morrow, O. He is also survived by one brother, J. T. Ward, Danville, Ill.; 42 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren." |
 | E. T. Corbin jailed for failure to pay alimony 1920 "E. T. Corbin, of Lexington, was today in the county jail, where he was sent to ponder over the matter of obeying the order of the Fayette Circuit court to pay out $7.50 a week alimony. He is alleged to have failed to comply with judgment entered on July 17, 1920. directing him to pay that amount of alimony weekly and he was adjudged contempt of court. He will be held in the county jail until the alimony is paid or until further orders of the court." |

 | Stella Page abandonment 1925 "On complaint of Mrs. Stella Page, County Judge E. H. Doak issued a warrant this morning for the arrest of her husband, William J. Page, on the charge of contributing to the delinquency and dependence of his minor children. Mrs. Page alleges that her husband left home about four weeks ago and since the nhas (has) contributed nothing towards the support of herself and children. It was stated by Mrs. Page that from information she had been able to obtain that Page is now in Dayton, Ohio, working for an automobile company." |

 | Jerry Kaylor strawberries 1928 "Once more a bumper crop of straw. berries has been produced by the truck gardners of the Waco and Bybee sections of the county. The berries of 1928 are much larger, firmer and of better flavor than for many years...While strawberries are a staple and profitable crop in the eastern sections of Madison county the acreage has been greatly decreased this year due to the poor yield of the last five years. Most of the berries are being sold locally and by truck in Lexington and Winchester, Jerry Kaylor, Pleas Conner, William Cain and others near Waco are keeping up a large acreage, but the small growers, who raised strawberries as side line have dropped out." |
