Mary Snelling files for divorce 1897
"Mrs. Mary Snelling, of Solomon unused to the ways of the law, visited our good-looking bachelor district clerk Thursday and asked for papers divorcing her from Geo. F. Snelling. Mr. Smith regretted that his powers did not extend that far and referred the applicant to an attorney. This morning suit was filed for her by C. S. Crawford in which Mrs. Snelling accuses her husband, to whom she was married at Salina in March, 1886, of extreme cruelty and with calling her "a liar, hypocrite and thief," his actions finally compelling her to leave him. The couple have one child, a daughter nine years old."
