| St. Francis Hospital, Macomb, IL ca 1920 St. Francis Hospital, located at the end of South Johnson Street, was founded by Dr. Joseph B. Bacon. He and his wife, Elizabeth, contributed $3,000, and he raised funds from others in the area. He also arranged for the Sisters of St. Francis to operate the facility. The original building, which cost $30,000, was completed in 1903, and wings were added in 1912 and 1927. The hospital operated until 1967 and was torn down six years later. |
