- From her obituary: Flora Evelyn Sweeney "passed away at her home" in Blandinsville IL, 13 Mar 1934 "at 11:00 that morning. She was 85 years, 5 months and 17 days old, and death came suddenly as the result of complications incident to her advanced age.
"Mrs. Sweeney lead a life of devoted companionship and service. For her husband, who is almost totally blind, she has been a faithful and loving guide and help meet, and she will be sorely missed by Mr. Sweeney who survives her.
"Mrs. Sweeney was, before her marriage, Flora Evelyn Peck. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Emely (Emily) Willis Peck, and was born in Grant County, Wisconsin. When she was but nine years old she came to this community and has lived in Blandinsville ever since. Here, while she, was growing to young womanhood, she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Abel Fisher.
"On May 7, 1891, she was united in marriage to George Sweeney, and they lived a long and happy life together. For many years this aged couple going along the street arm in arm has been a familiar sight here in Blandinsville. kindly, unassuming and devoted, they both found their interests and their happiness in one another.
"Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Christian church here, with Ret, Chas. Jupin officiating and internment will be in Glade City cemetery.
"Mrs. Sweeney was a member of the Christian church and of Oasis Rebekah lodge here.
