Could walk only with support. Intermittent sight, mostly blind. Affidavit by Dr. J. P Warren 3 Feb 1928 states Allen suffered from "senility, arteriosclerosis and high blood pressure." Reports of piles, sciatica, and intestinal problems throughout the record.

"Allen Ward, 90, one of Lexington's oldest residents, died at 12.25 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Baker, 300 Sherman avenue. Had Mr. Ward lived until Sept. 30, he would have celebrated his 91st birthday. He had been In falling health for three years, and practically bedfast for the past year. Mr. Ward, a retired farmer, was a Union soldier. He was born in Donerail, a son of Rufus Valentine and Lockey Burton Ward, and moved to Lexington five years ago. He was a Republican and a member of the True Followers of Christ denomination. Of his 11 children, six survive him. They are Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Frank Carew, Georgetown; Mrs. Alex Rennie, Hamilton, O.; Mrs. Nannie Corbin, Lexington; Voley Ward, Lexington, and Henry Ward, Morrow, O. He is also survived by one brother, J. T. Ward, Danville, Ill.; 42 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren."Burial 15 Sep 1931 Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Fayette Co., KY [1, 2] - "Funeral services will be held at the residence of his grandson, H. C. Ward, 273 Sherman avenue, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Lexington cemetery."
