Obituary Forrest R. Corwin 1950 "Funeral services for Forrest R. Corwin, 61, Dayton, who drowned Tuesday at Loramie reservoir, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at Dayton. Burial will be in the Spring Valley cemetery. Corwin, an engineer for the Dayton Power and Light company, lost his life a quarter mile off Earl's Island while his wife, Nellie, and sister-in-law. Mrs. Martin Zehring, looked on helplessly. They had come to the lake for a day's outing. At the time of the tragedy, Corwin was returning to the island from a visit to the state conservation office. Reports have it the motor on Corwin's boat became unfastened. Corwin was seen swimming near the boat and it is believed he drowned while trying to retrieve the motor. Rescue attempts are said to have been delayed because the telephone at the state office was out of order. The drowning occurred at 3:30, but Corwin's body was not recovered until 90 minutes later. Corwin had been employed by the Dayton firm 13 years. Besides the widow, Nellie Huff Corwin. he leaves two brothers. Robert G., Lytle, Howard C., Blanchester, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Tucker, Cuyahoga Falls." |
