"John L. Hoskinson, the 14-year-old son of William C. Hoskinson, a well known ploneer of Kitsap county, was killed in a runaway at Eagle Harbor yesterday. Young Hoskinson was driving a team of mules, which took fright at something on the road and ran away. In turning a corner in the road the boy was thrown from hls seat on the wagon to the roadside. His head struck with with great force on a stump, fracturing his skull and causing almost instant death." (John was not quite 13 at time of death vs 14 stated in the article.)

"The funeral of John L. Hoskinson, the 14-year-old son of William C. Hoskinson, a pioneer rancher of Eagle Harbor, was held yesterday afternoon at Port Madison. The ceremony was the largest attended of any held in the town in recent years. Rev. Curry officlated at the services and interment as made in the Port Madison cemetery (also known as Kane Cemetery).
