PECK Ellen Estelle [1] |
- From Ellen's obit: "Ellen Estelle Peck was born in Grant County, Wisconsin, Sept 24 1852, and died at her home in Blandinsville, Ill., on the first day of April 1917, aged 64 years 6 months and 8 days. When a child of five years she moved with her parents to Iowa, where she grew to woman hood and was educated in the country schools.
"On Dec. 2, 1872, she was married to Abel Fisher and came with him to Blandinsville where they made their new home and where they have resided during the past forty-four years.
"To their union tree children were born. Olive Blanch, who was the wife of Fred Kling, preceded her mother in death in the year 1898 Orville Fisher, the only son, and Mrs. E. J. Bissell are living in Blandinsville and have helped care for their mother during the last days of her life. Besides these and her husband she leaves a brother, G. W. Peck of Carroll, Iowa and a sister Mrs. George Sweeney of Blandinsville.
"Mrs. Fisher will be held in long remembrance by her many friends and neighbors to whom she was endeared in life by her kindly deeds and pleasant disposition. She was a friend to the afflicted, a willing helper to those in need, an obliging neighbor, and a wife and mother whose family alter was a shrine on which was laid the devotion of her life. She had her share of this worlds duties and troubles, and faced them with heroic patience and fortitude. During the last twenty-five years she has not enjoyed perfect health and for several years has been practically an Invalid.
"She was a member of the Christian church and when unable to attend its services she lived the Christian life in her home. Her long and useful life is closed, her sufferings are over ad she now lives where sickness and sorrow are unknown. Though her death was expected, and in her advanced years and enfeebled constitution was inevitable, it brings a heartfelt sorrow to her bereaved family and a host of loving friends.
"The funeral services were held at the Christian church at two o'clock in the afternoon of Tuesday, April 3, Elder Ward E. Hall officiating and she was laid to rest in Glade City cemetery."
- Believe G. W. Peck of Carroll IA in the obit is meant read S. W. for brother Seymour Wells Peck, who was living in Carroll IA at time of Ellen's death.
