- "Martha E. Botts, daughter of Rufus and Jane Botts was born at MaComb, Illinois Dec. 25, 1842. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Knox Co., Mo." Is Jane was her actual mother's name or does it mistakenly refer to Martha's stepmother Jane (Fisher) Botts?

- The Botts children are presumably Rufus' children by a first wife before Jane The first wife must have died after 1841 given Polly Botts age of 9 years. Rufus married Jane circa 1850 after the death of her first husband Joseph Higgs who died sometime after 1846. The Higgs children are daughters of Jane and Joseph. Curiously missing from the list is Sarah J. Higgs who would have been about 3 years old in 1850.

- "Mrs. Martha E. Collins died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Robt. Clinkenbeard east of Sheldon, Wednesday morning Dec. 21....On Jan. 31, 1326 she fell and fractured her hip. But through the months of suffering she never complained but talked of the day when the cares of life would be laid aside and faith should become a reality. On Wed, morning as the sun was slowly breaking over the eastern horizon to make its journey she quietly fell into that peaceful sleep."
