    "To John N. Foster, You are hereby notified that Catharine Foster has filed her bill in Chancery, in the Circuit Court of the county of McDonough and State of Illinois, against you and Baslar B. Foster, R. Floyd Foster, John Fisher, Diantha J. Fisher, William J. Farris, Leantha D. Farris, and William Kennedy, and that a summons has issued in said cause against you and said other defendants, returnable on the first day of the October term, A, D. 1868, of said Court to be holden at the Court House, in the city of Macomb, in said county, on be first Monday of October, A. D. 1868." This action presumably related to the will/probate of her husband George Foster's estate. She perhaps did not get the bequest she anticipated.

    • From History of McDonough Co., 1885: George Foster, father of R. T., (should read R.F.--ed.) was a native of Virginia, born in Botetourt county. His wife, Mary Shepherd, was a native of the same place, and their marriage occurred January 20,1825. His death occurred January 26, 1868, and hers in 1855; they are 'buried at New Hope cemetery (now called Blandinsville South Cemetery--ed.). [4]
    • ...George Foster, a native of Virginia; he settled in Hire township, coming from Michigan here, and died at his home January 26,1868, having lost his wife in 1855, and both lie in Good Hope cemetery (Should read New Hope, also called Blandinsville South Cemetery--ed). [5]
