She was married to William Kaylor, who died in 1964. Mrs. Kaylor had lived in Kentucky before coming to Morgan County for residence in 1925 and was a member of the Non-Denominational Christian Church. Survivors include four daughters and four sons. They are Mrs. Charles Brummett and Mrs. Glen Brummett of R. R. 7, Mrs. Robert Groth of Independence, Kan., Mrs. Paul Stier of Wisconsin; Victor of R. R. 7; Jasper, R. R. 2; Jerry C., R. R. 1, and Robert C. Kaylor of Trafalgar R. R. 2. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Forest Moore of Frankfort, Ky., Mrs. Preston White of Richmond, Ky., and 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren." |

(Newman) Kaylor, she was born July 27, 1913, in Madison County, Ky. She married Charles Brummett on Oct. 29, 1932. He died on Feb. 19, 1984. Mrs. Brummett was a housewife. She was of the Non-Denominational Christian faith. Survivors include a brother, Jerry C. Kaylor of Martinsville, and three sisters, Lula Estelle Brummett, Martinsville; Sarah F. Groth, Fredonia, Kan., and Mattie E. Stier, Muskego, Wis. Four brothers, Victor G., Robert C., Jasper "Jack" and Guy Cleo Kaylor and one sister, Volitta Pauline Kaylor, preceded her in death. The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Jim Holt and lan Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Fairview Cemetery in Martinsville." |

2378 | Obituary: Nathan Sams 1927 "Nathan Sams was born April 14; 1851, at Elizabeth (should read Elizabethton), Tenn., and died at Sullivan, Illinois, Friday, July 1, at 10:10 o'clock p. m. at the home of his son, William T. Sams. At an early age his parents moved to Kentucky where he grew to manhood. In 1876 (actually 1873) he was united in marriage with Mrs. Elizabeth Ward Richardson. To their union five children were born of whom only three survive. They are Walker, William T., and Mrs. Charles Getz, all of Sullivan, and one step-daughter, Mrs. J. C. Lykins of Catlin, Illinois. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He later moved his family to Catlin where they lived for many years until the death of his wife, after which he made his home with his children at Sullivan. He was united with the Christian church in Catlin a number of years ago and his body was taken by ambulance to that city Sunday to be placed beside that of his wife who preceeded him in death about eighteen years ago. Services were conducted by Rev Jones, Pastor of the Christian church, at the home of the stepdaughter, Mrs. J. C. Lykins. Many floral tributes proved the love and respect of his old friends and he will be greatly missed by those who loved and cared for him. Those from this city who accompanied the remains to their last resting piace were Mrs. Charles Getz, daughter Edna and son Raymond, Finis Switzer and family, William T. Sams and family and Walker Sams." |

She was employed at the Heritage House Nursing Home for more than 18 years. She was the supervisor of housekeeping. She also worked for other area nursing homes and provided private duty care for several years. She was a member of Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Martinsville. She enjoyed cross stitching and feeding the birds. Other survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Riffel and Beth Manley, both of Martinsville and Christine Troxal of Ellettsville; two sons, Colby Brummett of Martinsville and Dewey Brummett of Reidsville, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Kim Graham of Mooresville; three sisters, Janet Brown, Roberta Miller and Jerry Cum-mings, all of Martinsville; two half-sisters, Mabel O'Neal of Bloomington and Teresa Weensch of Trafalgar; two half-brothers, Bobby Kaylor of Florida and Jimmy Kaylor of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by great-grandchild, an infant sister and two brothers, William and Victor Kaylor. The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. The Rev. Mark Abernathy will officiate. ...Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martins-ville." |
