Text Ennis “Jim” Bartlett, 93, of Bushnell, IL passed away peacefully at home at 8:07 AM Tuesday February 6, 2018. He was born July 23, 1924 in Bushnell, IL to Ennis and Edith (Haigh) Bartlett. He married Mary Lou Fisher on November 22, 1947 in Bushnell, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Michael Bartlett of Bushnell, IL; John (Stacey) Bartlett of Bushnell, IL; Melissa (David) Powell of Bushnell, IL; seven grandchildren Heather, Jennifer (Justin), Jason, Ashley, Matthew, Mackenzie, and Mollee, four great grandchildren Haley, Sarah, Audrey, and Maverik, one sister Joann Legge of Arizona, and his two special buddies Jasper and Lola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Marsha Bartlett, several siblings, and his best friend and sidekick Ron Riley.

Jim served his country proudly as a member of the US Army in World War II, spending his tour of duty in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong member of the VFW. He was self-employed most of his life, working in the masonry business until he was 86. He was very proud to have been one of the people who helped pour and build the foundation of McDonough District Hospital. Jim loved everything outdoors, spending many quality hours with his family, deer and squirrel hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and cutting wood. He loved to go for nature drives looking for deer. Many years ago, he and Mary Lou bought a property south of Bushnell that would become a family treasure- so many happy hours have been spent together with family and friends at their lake! Jim's pride and joy, though, was his family. He worked hard his whole life to provide for them, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Jim was a man of few words, but anyone who knew him would say that he was a man of great honesty and integrity, and he was respected and loved by all that were lucky enough to know him.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bushnell VFW, 181 E. Hail St., on Saturday February 24, at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Anyone who would like to share a story or memory is welcomed and encouraged to do so! Memorial contributions can be made to the Bushnell Rescue Squad or the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
