    WHITINSVILLE - Florence F. (Witkowicz) Newton, 82, died Saturday, November 3, in the Beaumont Rehab & Nursing Center following an illness. Her husband, Francis J. Newton, died in 1978.

    She is survived by four children: Timothy J. and his wife, Maryann Newton of Whitinsville; Kate and her husband, Jay Anthony, of St. Peterburg, Fl; Patty and her husband, Paul Buma, of Douglas; and Marnie and her husband, Daniel Havalotti, of Douglas; two brothers, Francis and his wife, Marge Witkowicz, of New Bedford, and Edward and his wife, Lorraine Witkowicz, of Fall River; a sister, Bertha Miska, of Lake Wales, Fl, and a sister-in-law, Mary Doucette, of Fall River; ten grandchildren: Kelly, Kerry, Jesse, Amy, Andrew, Pam, Tanya, Daniel, Dustin, and Emma; two step-granddaughters, Tarah and Angela; and six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Savannah, Ryan, Kyle, and Evan. Also, two former sons-in-law, Robert Belval, of Sarasota, FL, and Paul Romeiro, of Douglas. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Witkowicz, and a grandson, Dylan.

    Mrs. Newton was born October 22, 1925, in New Bedford, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Domijan) Witkowicz. She grew up in Fall River, graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1943, and moved to Whitinsville in the 1950's.

    She was a loan officer at the former Bank of Boston in Whitinsville prior to retiring in 1985. She also was a hostess at the Cocke 'N Kettle in Uxbridge from 1966 until 1978.

    Mrs. Newton was a member of Saint Patrick's Church in Whitinsville. She doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she enjoyed reading, playing games, especially charades and crossword puzzles, and going to Foxwoods. She also loved watching sports, especially the Red Sox and Tiger Woods.

    A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, November 7, in Saint Patrick's Church, Cross St. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 5-8 PM, Tuesday, November 6, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 495 Old Connecticut Rd., Suite 220, Framingham, MA, 01701.
