    M. Ruth Hobby, 86, of Blandinsville, Ill., died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004, at her daughter's home in Blandinsville.

    Born June 23, 1917, near Blandinsville, she was the daughter of Charles and Florence Ashby Fisher. On Feb. 26, 1935, she married Henry C. Hobby in Carthage, Ill. He died May 2, 2001.

    Mrs. Hobby worked at LaHarpe Hospital in LaHarpe, Ill., and the Highway Café in Blandinsville for several years.

    She was a member of Abundant Life Church in LaHarpe.

    Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Stewart of LaHarpe and Karen Moore of Blandinsville; one son, Roger Hobby of Blandinsville; 12 grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; 21 great–grandchildren; four stepgreat–grandchildren; five great–great–grandchildren; and one stepgreat–great–grandson.

    Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, two great–grandsons, four brothers and five sisters.

    Visitation will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. today at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

    The funeral for Mrs. Hobby will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Glade Cemetery in Blandinsville.

    Memorials have been established for the Blandinsville Rescue Squad and McDonough District Hospital Hospice.
