Dear Friend: I thought I would drop you a few lines to let you know where I am. At present I am in European waters on the U.S.S. Ericsson, and American destroyer. I have been in nearly all the principal ports along the western coast of Europe and have certainly seen some wonderful sights. Two large ports I have visited are London and Liverpool. I was in Liverpool about two months and was granted a five days leave to London from there.

I enjoyed myself in London, for some of the most wonderful sights in the world are to be seen there. Some of the places of interest I visited are: The Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, House of Parliament, St. Pauls Cathedral, Thames River, and a number of art museums. The most beautiful place I saw was the King's Royal Grounds with their beautiful parks and flower gardens. I went through the royal stables and viewed the King's coaches and horses. The five days I was in London all passed to quickly and before I knew it it was time to return to the ship. I am going to London again in about three months and see the rest of the sights. I don't believe a man could see all the sights if he stayed there a year.

I have been in foreign waters now for a year and I long for the time when I can set foot on good American soil once more. I am hoping to come home soon, but you never can tell how things are going to turn out in war time. Will close for this time hoping to hear from you soon. I remain,

    Yours truly,
    P. V. Fisher
