  He lived most of his life in the Colchester and Blandinsville areas. He worked at the King-Sealy plant, Macomb, as custodian for Northwestern High School and as an accountant at McDonough Telephone Co-op before his retirement. He was a member of the Blandinsville First Baptist Church, Macomb Eagles, Macomb Elks, WIU Athletic Club, charter member of the Barbershop Chorus and an honorary member of the Macomb VFW. He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame.
